What is an Item Type in ManufApp?

Item Type is the classification of an item based on its role in the manufacturing process. Each item in ManufApp must be tagged with one of these types to ensure proper behavior in inventory and reports.

Every item in ManufApp must be assigned one Item Type from the following standard categories:


🔹 RM (Raw Material)

  • Purpose: Input materials consumed during production

  • Examples: Steel Coil, Plastic Granules, Cotton Fabric

  • Usage: Appears in BOMs as base inputs and is issued to production


🔹 WIP (Work-in-Progress)

  • Purpose: Items that are partially processed but not yet finished

  • Examples: Welded Frame, Coated Panel, Cut Fabric

  • Usage: Helps in multi-stage BOMs and in tracking intermediate production outputs


🔹 FG (Finished Goods)

  • Purpose: Final products ready for sale, stock, or dispatch

  • Examples: Air Conditioner Unit, Packed Shirt, Engine Assembly

  • Usage: Appears in Sales Orders, Dispatch, and Inventory as deliverable stock


🔹 Scrap

  • Purpose: Rejected, damaged, or unusable material from production

  • Examples: Burrs, Damaged Blades, Wastage Offcuts

  • Usage: Can be tracked for rejection analysis, reprocessing, or disposal


🔹 CONS (Consumables)

  • Purpose: Indirect materials consumed during production but not part of the final product

  • Examples: Gloves, Lubricants, Tapes, Coolant

  • Usage: Tracked for cost and usage but not included in BOMs


🔹 Sample

  • Purpose: Items made for testing, trials, or customer approval before regular production

  • Examples: Sample Garments, Prototype Casting

  • Usage: Usually excluded from regular stock; helps in tracking trial runs separately


🔹 Kit

  • Purpose: A bundled group of items sold or issued together as one unit

  • Examples: First-Aid Kit, Hardware Fitting Kit

Usage: Often used in packaging or sales where multiple items are grouped logically
