How to Copy a BOM in ManufApp

How to Copy a BOM in ManufApp

🎯 Objective

To guide users on how to copy a Bill of Materials (BOM) from an existing item to another item in ManufApp. This saves time, ensures accuracy, and eliminates the need to manually recreate BOM structures for similar products.

💡 Example: Copying a BOM

Suppose you manufacture two similar products:

  • CB-800KV-A – This item already has a complete BOM defined.

  • MCB-20AMP-A – This is a new item with almost the same structure, but a slight variation in one component.

Instead of creating the BOM for MCB-20AMP-A from scratch, you can copy the BOM from CB-800KV-A and make small changes as needed.

🛠 Steps to Copy a BOM

Step 1: Navigate to the Items List

  • Go to: Masters  → Items

  • This will display a list of all available items.

Step 2: Select the Target Item

  • From the list, click on the item where you want to copy the BOM.

  • This will open the Edit Item screen.

Step 3: Use the Copy BOM Option

  • Inside the Edit Item screen, go to the BOM tab.

  • Click on the Copy BOM button.

Step 4: Choose the Source Item

  • A popup will appear: "Select Item to Copy BOM".

  • Select the item which already has the BOM you want to copy from.

  • Click Next.

Step 5: Review and Save the BOM

  • The BOM details from the source item will now appear for the target item.

  • Review each line (Item Name, Quantity, UOM, etc.).

  • Make changes if required.

  • Click Save BOM or Add & Finalize BOM to lock it.

Step 6: Confirmation

  • Once saved, you will see a "BOM created successfully" message.

  • You can either:

    • Go to Items – to return to the item list.

    • Add BOM – to create another BOM for a different item.

✅ Conclusion

Copying a BOM in ManufApp is a quick and efficient way to duplicate existing material structures for similar items. By following these steps, users can maintain consistency across products, reduce manual data entry, and speed up production planning.
