Before Proceeding, see:

How Tool Usage Multiplier Works in ManufApp

Steps

Step 1 – Navigate to Add Tool Section

  • Go to Masters → Tools.

  • Click on the + New button to add a tool.

Step 2 – Fill in Tool Details

  • Label: Enter the name of the tool (e.g., Cutter Tool).

  • Multiplier: Enter the multiplier value. This is useful for adjusting the tool's impact on the production process.

  • Click on + Rules to link this tool to specific machine groups, items, and processes.

Machine Group: Select the machine group that uses this tool (e.g., MWIP-3).

  • Once the Machine Group is selected, the associated Item, Process, and Seconds fields will auto-populate based on the rules linked to that machine.

Step 4 – Define Lifetime & Maintenance Cycle

  • Under the Lifetime & Maintenance Cycle section, set the following:

    • Lifetime (Number of strokes): Specify how many strokes or cycles the tool can perform before it needs maintenance (e.g., 500 strokes).

    • Maintenance Cycle (Number of strokes): Enter how frequently the tool should be maintained (e.g., 100 strokes).

Step 5 – Add Sub-Tools

  • If this tool has sub-tools, you can add them by clicking + Add New Rows and entering the necessary details like lifetime and maintenance cycle for each sub-tool.

Step 6 – Submit the Tool Details

  • Once you've filled in the details for the tool and its linked rules, click Submit to save the tool configuration.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can efficiently add and configure tools in ManufApp, link them to specific machines and processes, and define their maintenance cycles. This ensures proper tracking and utilization of tools in production.
