What is Routing in Manufacturing?

What is Routing in Manufacturing?

Routing defines the exact sequence of operations that a product or Work-in-Progress (WIP) item must go through during production — from the first stage to the final finished product.

In simpler terms, it is the roadmap for manufacturing a product, showing which processes happen, in what order, and at which work centers or machines.

For example, a typical fabrication route might look like this:
1. Cutting → 2. Bending → 3. Welding → 4. Painting → 5. Final Inspection (FG)

Each of these steps forms part of a defined Route in ManufApp, helping ensure every item follows the correct process sequence.
