Work Centre: Manage Shopfloor Inventory, Material Issue and Rejection

Work Centre: Manage Shopfloor Inventory, Material Issue and Rejection

Objective

This guide explains how to use the Shopfloor Inventory tab in the Work Centre screen to:

  • View material available at the selected work centre

  • Identify material linked with the currently selected Sales Order or Work Order

  • Issue available material to the current production job

  • Reject unusable material with a rejection reason and quantity

  • Check updated available quantity after material issue or rejection

Overview

The Shopfloor Inventory tab displays the input material lots currently available at the selected machine or work centre.

A work centre may contain material linked with multiple production jobs. The user can select a Sales Order or Work Order from the left panel and use shopfloor inventory for that selected job.

The system shows a green Current tag against material linked with the order currently selected for production.

Go to:

Production → Work Centre

Then:

  1. Select the required machine or work centre.

  2. Select the required Sales Order / Work Order from the left panel.

  3. Select the item to be produced.

  4. Open the Shopfloor Inventory tab.

Step 1: View Shopfloor Inventory

Once the Shopfloor Inventory tab is opened, the system displays material available at the selected work centre.

The table shows:

This means that 992 kilograms were issued against the order, 12 kilograms were already consumed, and 980 kilograms are still available for use.

Understand the Current Tag

The green Current tag shows that the material is linked with the Sales Order / Work Order currently selected on the left panel.

This helps users identify the correct material when inventory from multiple jobs is visible.

Step 4: Issue Material

To issue shopfloor material to the selected job:

  1. Click Issue under the Actions column.

  2. Review the item, lot ID and quantity shown in the confirmation pop-up.

  3. Click Issue Material to confirm.

After confirmation, the material appears against the selected order with the Current tag.

Step 5: Reject Material from Shopfloor Inventory

To reject unusable material:

  1. Click Reject against the required material lot.

  2. Select the Rejection Reason.

  1. Enter the rejected quantity.

  2. Click Reject.

Step 6: Check Updated Quantity

After rejection, the system updates the material quantity.

This means that 2 kg has been rejected and 536 kg remains available for production.

Important Points

  • Select the correct machine before viewing shopfloor material.

  • Select the correct Sales Order / Work Order and production item before using the Issue action.

  • Use the green Current tag to confirm that the material is linked with the selected job.

  • Verify the Item, Lot ID and Quantity before clicking Issue Material.

  • While rejecting material, select the correct rejection reason and enter the correct quantity.

  • Rejected quantity is automatically reduced from the available material quantity.

  • The same process is applicable for production jobs linked with either a Sales Order or a Work Order.

Conclusion

The Shopfloor Inventory tab in the Work Centre helps users manage material already available at the machine level. Users can identify material linked with the selected Sales Order or Work Order using the Current tag, issue available material to the current job, and reject unusable quantities with defined reasons. This ensures accurate material tracking and better control over shopfloor production inventory.
