Give users a simple way to edit a Sales Order even after items or their BOMs have been finalized, while keeping planning and production data accurate.
Sometimes you finalize a Sales Order and later realize an item needs to be changed. That’s normal. The system locks the SO to keep production, planning, and inventory aligned.
What this really means is: before you edit anything, you need to unfinalize it.
Here’s the exact flow.
Go to Orders → Sales Orders,
and open the SO you want to update.
Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the SO.
Here you can see:
Edit SO
Which items are finalized and which are not
If the SO contains items whose production BOM is not yet finalized, you will see a Finalize BOM button in the Item Details section.
Here’s what to do:
Click Finalize BOM
A popup opens showing the list of items whose BOM needs to be finalized
Select the items
Click Save
Once done:
Those items become Finalized
The system locks their BOM for planning
The button now changes to Unfinalize BOM
You can now proceed to unfinalize the SO itself
The Finalize button now shows Unfinalize.
Click Unfinalize to unlock the SO.
Now go to Edit SO
Click it to make changes.
Update item details and click Submit.
Unfinalizing the Sales Order is the required step to unlock item editing without disrupting planning or production. Once changes are made and saved, the SO can be finalized again to ensure everything stays aligned.
